In a heartbreaking turn of events, a jilted lover is suspected of committing a heinous crime, taking the life of his girlfriend in Trom, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern region. This unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, June 17, 2023, specifically at Junction 5 within the Trom community.
According to reports, the victim had been in the process of ending the relationship, which led her to relocate to her current residence. It is believed that during a naming ceremony held at the same venue, the suspect visited the girlfriend’s home. Subsequently, she invited him to her room.
Preliminary investigations reveal that a struggle ensued between the suspect and the victim. Shockingly, the suspect allegedly silenced her cries for help by forcefully placing a cloth in her mouth before slitting her throat.
Tragically, amidst the noise from the ongoing naming ceremony, the victim’s desperate pleas for assistance went unnoticed. The knife used in this gruesome act was later discarded by the suspect into a nearby bush at the rear of the house, as he made a surreptitious exit.
Overwhelmed by guilt and remorse, the suspect eventually turned himself in to the police, dressed in a red shirt bearing the inscription ‘Rest In Peace’. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been transported to the morgue.
Authorities are actively conducting investigations to locate the murder weapon and gather more evidence regarding this distressing incident.
